Tango's Harmonica Trio is an established and National Arts Council-endorsed performance group that is deeply involved with music education and performance. The trio endeavours to promote the musical union of the harmonica and classical guitar, a combination which has been popular in Singapore for many decades. Led by veteran harmonica player Tang Yuen Wai, the trio comprises Balraj Gopal on guitar and Jean Low on vocals. Together, they continue to expand the sonic features of the group with songs that resonate with music enthusiasts familiar with this genre.
Tang Yuen Wai
Tang Yuen Wai is a versatile full-time musician and leading veteran harmonica teacher in Singapore. He is presently conductor for harmonica bands in numerous secondary schools and junior colleges, and also the conductor of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Harmonica Band. He is a regular judge for many major local and overseas harmonica competitions.
Balraj Gopal
Balraj Gopal is the only Singaporean graduate from the acclaimed International Niibori Guitar Academy in Japan, and is the Associate Conductor of the NUS Guitar Orchestra (GENUS).
Jean Low
Soprano Jean Low received her first formal vocal training in the classics, attaining a ABRSM Grade 8 in Voice and Music Theory. She has since performed at numerous events, singing both classical and contemporary material. Low is also an instructor and has been active as a vocal coach at the Singapore Cancer Society since 2014.
